Cici Damali is a professional makeup artist, New York State Licensed Esthetician, Licensed Cosmetologist, Licensed Esthetics Educator and writer. Cici’s passion for beauty stemmed from childhood; to playing in her mother’s makeup, to learning how to apply makeup and take care of her skin as a teen, and modeling at fashion shows/beauty pageants. Ever since she was a baby, Cici struggled with sensitive skin and severe allergies, causing her to be extra cautious with every skincare, makeup & hair product- having to read lengthy ingredient lists of everything she applied to her skin or hair.

The challenges of having sensitive skin/allergies and searching for safe products/services were proved more difficult by being a Black woman. Therefore having even less product selection to choose from, and scarcity of services- or service providers with experience let alone comfortable with working on skin tones of different colors. Hence, Cici understood early on the fear of being turned away for beauty services that Black people and other People of Color feel is very real! Cici knew that she wasn't alone, knowing friends, family members and strangers alike struggled with the same or similar issues.

Utilizing the training received and skills honed over time, Cici had a vision to help people like her with sensitive skin and allergies in skincare, haircare and makeup. That vision is Damali Artistry. Damali, Cici’s middle name, means ‘beautiful vision’ in both the Arabic and African Swahili languages. Damali Artistry's mission is to provide inclusive customized beauty and skincare services for all racial/ethnic backgrounds who have sensitive or allergenic skin types. Damali Artistry also seeks to empower young Black aspiring professionals or students in the beauty industry, by providing resources and programs. Cici hopes to show those who can relate to her past struggles that you can face adversity and still accomplish your dreams and goals!
